Carolina Chillers, LLC specializes in HVAC service, controls, installation, maintenance agreements, parts, equipment, and equipment relocations, as well as complete system evaluations to determine building and facility efficiency. We are a licensed, full service mechanical contractor for all types of mechanical equipment including air handlers, cooling towers, motors, pumps, valves, controls, variable frequency drives, data room HVAC, and chillers. Our customer base consists of commercial, medical, and industrial facilities and applications. Position Title: Payroll Administrator
Department: Accounting
Reports to: CFO
Branch Location: Charleston, SC
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

As a Payroll Administrator this role will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with payroll processing and Human resources. These tasks will include but will not be limited to the onboarding of new teammates, processing biweekly payroll, and maintaining teammate records in accordance with the established standards and policies.

This position works together with the department leaders, executive team, and CFO to provide support to the entire organization.

Essential Position Functions

  • Providing information and answering teammate questions about payroll related matters.
  • Managing electronic timekeeping systems or manually collecting and reviewing timesheets.
  • Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • Preparing and issuing earnings statements.
  • Maintaining teammate records.
  • Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct teammate data.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.

Relationship Building

  • Establish and maintain a rapport / positive working relationship with all teammates. Promptly address any concerns and assure resolution in order to maintain positive long-term relationships.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates)

  • Two-year degree in accounting / administration

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working in a payroll office.
  • HRIS / Payroll Software experience (Paylocity preferred)
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy, specifically MS Word and Excel
  • No travel required

Physical Requirements

The position requires the candidate to have the ability to lift approximately 15-20 lbs. in assistance of loading, unloading, and storing materials and equipment. The position will also require bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, balancing, kneeling, twisting, standing, and climbing stairs and ladders.
